The island of Tenerife will experience a notable increase in temperatures this Wednesday, particularly in the midlands and higher elevations. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts that maximum temperatures could reach 30 degrees on the eastern, southern, and western slopes, with local readings of up to 32 degrees in the midlands.
In the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures will range between a low of 24 degrees and a high of 30 degrees. The rise will be more noticeable in areas where the wind is drier and warmer, such as the midlands and certain slopes, while morning cloud cover in the north might slightly moderate the atmosphere during the early hours.
The wind will blow moderately from the northeast, with the possibility of occasionally strong gusts along the coastal strip of the southeast and the extreme northwest of the island, especially in the latter half of the day. At high altitudes of Teide, the wind will be moderate from the southwest.
This thermal rise will not be limited to Tenerife but will affect the entire Archipelago. In Gran Canaria, warm conditions are expected with highs exceeding 30 degrees on the southern and western slopes, potentially reaching 34 degrees in the midlands and the Tejeda basin. Fuerteventura and Lanzarote will also record highs near or above 30 degrees in their interior and southern areas.
Wind will be another significant factor, with intervals of strength in exposed areas of several islands, including Gran Canaria, La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro. On these islands, temperatures will also rise, especially on the southern and western slopes, possibly reaching 30 degrees in the midlands and high areas.
