New York band The Strokes has premiered the music video for their new single 'Going Shopping', the first preview from their upcoming album, filmed at the Auditorio de Tenerife.

The group, led by Julian Casablancas, selected the unique architectural space of the Auditorio de Tenerife, designed by Calatrava, as one of the main locations for filming this music video. The audiovisual piece, now available on platforms like Youtube and the band's social media, blends social satire with a minimalist aesthetic.
The exterior of the emblematic building, along with César Manrique's sculpture Homenaje a Santa Cruz, serves as the backdrop for several sequences. The music video also includes nods to the Canarian landscape, such as the appearance of bananas, which may be from nearby plantations in Tenerife.
American actor Walton Goggins stars in the video, anchoring much of the scenic narrative with a performance that oscillates between the comedic and the unsettling. The storyline has been interpreted by audiences as a critique of consumerism and contemporary social dynamics.
'Going Shopping' is the first preview from The Strokes' seventh studio album, titled 'Reality Awaits', scheduled for release on July 24. This album is their first since 'The New Abnormal', released in 2020.
