Despite the recent semi-final elimination, CB Canarias is already looking ahead to the configuration of its squad for the 26/27 season, with several key players showing their intention to remain with the club.

With the season just concluded and minds set on the future, CB Canarias is working on assembling its team for the 2026/2027 campaign. Several players with existing contracts have expressed their desire to continue defending the aurinegro colors, including Joan Sastre, Tim Abromaitis, and Jaime Fernández.
Joan Sastre, who renewed in the summer of 2025 for two seasons with a third optional year, has confirmed his intention to stay: "I have a contract and my idea is to stay here for another year," stated the player, recalling his "one plus one" agreement. After a more subdued start to the season, Sastre regained prominence in the playoffs, averaging nearly 12 minutes per game in the final rounds.
Meanwhile, Tim Abromaitis, whose contract also ends after this season, expressed his commitment: "My plan is to stay, of course. I want to do more things for Canarias." The American player acknowledged that, although the start of the season was challenging, he achieved "a bit more rhythm at the end" after a role change, and his goal for the next season is to "do more," both individually and collectively.
Jaime Fernández, whose two-year renewal was announced last summer, feels "more relaxed than last year" as he has a contract in force. After overcoming a serious knee injury that kept him off the court for 300 days, the Madrid native was able to play in the playoffs without the uncertainty of his future. "For now, I have a contract and I'm quite calm," affirmed the international player.
