The Digital Innovation Hub of the Canary Islands (CIDIHUB) has announced its active participation as a strategic driver in the 10th edition of the Ocean Hackathon®, to be held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This non-profit international event will gather developers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and technology experts for 48 intensive hours. The goal is to generate digital solutions focused on the sustainability, conservation, and intelligent development of marine resources, making intensive use of open data and artificial intelligence.
The venue for the in-person event will be INtech Tenerife – Enclave Cuevas Blancas, located at Carretera Santa María del Mar, 22 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Registrations are now open for forming multidisciplinary teams, consisting of 3 to 8 people, to tackle real technological challenges.
The Ocean Hackathon® is supported by global institutions and centers of marine excellence, including the Ministère de la Transition Écologique (French Republic), Cerema, the European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC), the Office Français de la Biodiversité (OFB), Ifremer, the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), Mercator Ocean International, the Copernicus Marine Service, the Canary Islands Oceanic Platform, the Innovalia Association, and Shom.
Through this initiative, CIDIHUB reinforces its position as a reference node within the European network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH Network). Its role will focus on facilitating technological transfer, the use of Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions, and advanced simulation environments for the islands' maritime sector.

During the 48-hour hackathon, participating teams will have access to data infrastructures, receive technical guidance from experts in the European Union's digital ecosystem, and benefit from mentorship on technology business models geared towards the global market.
Registration is officially open through the event's platform until October 14th, with limited places. Sought-after profiles range from data science, programming, and economics to marine biology, product design, and environmental management. Each participant must bring their own computer equipment to develop functional prototypes that will be presented to a specialized jury.
