Gobierno de Canarias · 2026-10-02

The Ministry of Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands has formalized the contract for the execution of the third lane on the TF-5 highway, between Guamasa and Tenerife North Airport, heading towards Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) formed by Ferrovial Construcción, S.A. and Asyota Asfaltos y Obras, S.L. will be responsible for carrying out the works, with a budget of 58,182,981.26 euros, including IGIC. This project is strategic for improving the capacity and circulation conditions of one of Tenerife's main road corridors.
The intervention will expand this section of the TF-5 from two to three lanes in the direction of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which will facilitate greater traffic absorption and better circulation conditions for the thousands of daily users.
The project also includes the remodeling of the Guamasa and San Lázaro interchanges, as well as the construction of a new direct link to Tenerife North Airport. This new configuration will separate traffic originating from and destined for the north and south, replacing the current system with a more efficient structure featuring differentiated connections.
Vehicles coming from the north will be able to access the airport directly via the new link, avoiding continuing to San Lázaro as they do currently. This reorganization aims to reduce traffic load on the most congested section of the TF-5 and significantly improve overall traffic flow.
