The Africamía festival reaches its fifth edition in Tenerife, presenting a full day dedicated to African and Afro-descendant cultures. The event aims to be a space for encounter, participation, and cultural exchange for all audiences.
The program begins at 4:00 PM with the family screening of the film The Pharaoh, the Savage, and the Princess, by Michel Ocelot, creator of Kirikou. The session will take place in the auditorium, with a limited capacity of 100 people.
At 5:30 PM, the Palmeras courtyard will host a storytelling and reading session led by Denise Biong from Librería Mulema, focusing on African children's and youth literature. This activity will also feature a permanent reading corner, made possible by a donation from Casa África.
Later, at 6:30 PM, an inclusive outdoor functional training session will be held in the same Palmeras courtyard. It will be led by Paul Fofanah and accompanied by Afro rhythms.
The day will culminate with a performance by the legendary Senegalese band Orchestra Baobab at 8:30 PM. Formed in the 1970s, the band will perform for the first time in the Canary Islands.
The music will continue at 10:00 PM with a DJ set by DJ SG, an artist originally from Equatorial Guinea and based in Madrid.
