The council of El Paso has finalized the payment for the second series of direct subsidies aimed at businesses and self-employed workers in the town center whose activities have been impacted by public infrastructure improvement and modernization works. This time, 37 beneficiaries have received these municipal grants.
Mayor Eloy Martín highlighted that the transformation of the urban center needed to be accompanied by concrete support measures for those whose activities are affected. "We are fulfilling that commitment again, with a second call that expands the number of supported businesses," he stated.
Martín recalled that while every improvement is necessary for modernizing the municipality and making it more accessible, the difficulties generated by ongoing works are acknowledged. The establishments included are located on Manuel Taño, Antonio Pino Pérez, José María Brito Pérez, Salvador Miralles, Constitución, and Fermín Sosa Pérez streets, all linked to current projects, with direct aid of up to 1,500 euros per establishment.
With this second round, a total of 69 businesses have now received financial support from the El Paso City Council. The Councilor for Commerce, Teresa Hernández, explained that the call has allowed for continued support to businesses and self-employed individuals in other central streets where new works are underway, compensating for access issues, reduced parking, traffic changes, and mobility difficulties.
Furthermore, the City Council maintains various support channels for the municipal business and commercial sector. These include subsidies for digitalization, the implementation of security measures, and the promotion of entrepreneurship, with 121 grants paid in the last call. Hernández noted that these tools aim to facilitate daily operations and contribute to the local economy and job creation, observing the growth of new businesses in El Paso.
