Producers in the Archipelago will receive approximately 19.51 million euros this month, representing about 70% of the total additional POSEI aid for the 2025 campaign. This payment is a significant advance compared to the usual schedule, which typically fell between December and January.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty, Narvay Quintero, explained during the Agriculture Commission of the Parliament that the full payment of the projected 28.2 million euros could be completed between October and November, pending the transfer of outstanding amounts from the Government of Spain.
This acceleration has been made possible by eliminating administrative procedures that previously slowed down the granting of this aid. The obligation for producers to submit a separate specific application for the POSEI additional aid, distinct from the one already processed for the community component, has been removed, as producers already meet the established requirements.
Quintero highlighted that advancing these payments improves the liquidity of agricultural holdings and reduces the need for external financing. The measure, aimed at 7,803 farmers and ranchers, seeks to simplify procedures without compromising sanitary and traceability guarantees.
The Government of the Canary Islands is claiming over 33 million euros from the State in pending aid, including 24.9 million advanced with its own funds for previous campaigns due to the State's non-compliance.
The Vice-Ministry of the Primary Sector has published the resolution granting these additional aids, which complements administrative simplification efforts such as implementing immediate response procedures through the Canary Islands Government's Electronic Office and reviewing requirements to streamline processing.
