The Governing Council of the Canary Islands Institute for Equality (ICI) approved this Friday on El Hierro the draft decree that will regulate the procedure for granting and paying financial aid to victims of sexual violence in the Canary Islands.

This body, composed of administration representatives and professionals, gave its final endorsement to the regulation that details access requirements, definitions of key concepts such as "victim of sexual violence" or "dependent victim of the family unit," methods for proving victim status, application deadlines, aid amounts and extensions, and the competent management bodies. The Minister of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families, Candelaria Delgado Toledo, highlighted the importance of this decree, which will now proceed through its processing to be submitted to the Government of the Canary Islands.
The meeting, chaired by Delgado and attended by the Director of the ICI, Ana Padrón, also authorized the signing of an agreement with the Canary Islands School of Health and Social Services (ESSSCAN). This training agreement is aimed at professionals and social workers involved in the field of violence against women in the Canary Islands.
Planned training activities include the XX Regional Meeting of the Canary Network of Services and Centers for Women Victims of Gender Violence, the first Meeting, Coordination, and Best Practices Conference for the 24-Hour Specialized Integral Assistance Centers for Victims of Sexual Violence in the Canary Islands, and the course "New Third-Generation Approaches for Addressing Gender Violence."
