The initiative, supported by the "El Varadero" Neighborhood Association and the local center Blue Magma Diving, aims to highlight the municipality's underwater natural heritage and promote diving tourism year-round. Mayor David Ruiz Álvarez stressed the institution's commitment to ensuring residents are the first to discover and appreciate the local marine riches.
Dozens of participants had the opportunity to take their first dive, exploring the biodiversity of La Bombilla, recognized as one of the best diving spots in the country. The mayor emphasized the activity's social and inclusive nature, intended to empower citizens to become ambassadors for the seabed.
“"For this governing group, it is fundamental to bring our natural heritage closer to the citizens themselves. With these types of free activities, we aim for our residents to have the opportunity to experience diving, discover the beauty of our coastline, and become the main ambassadors for our marine depths."
Ruiz Álvarez also highlighted Tazacorte's international potential, positioning its coastline as a top-tier tourist destination thanks to over 365 sunny days a year, unique in Europe for diving. He also underscored the sector's sustainable nature and economic projection, viewing it as a key socioeconomic driver and an environmentally respectful model.
The mayor concluded by stating that divers, with their high environmental awareness, are crucial allies for the observation and conservation of the local marine ecosystem.
