The Candelaria City Council has initiated the voting phase for the Candelaria27 Community Budgets, an initiative allowing citizens to decide on the investment of 500,000 euros from the municipal budget.

The mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, highlighted the importance of this stage of the participatory process, where ideas put forward by residents will be translated into concrete decisions. "Half a million euros is not distributed from an office; it is distributed by listening to those who live their street day-to-day and know exactly what is needed," she stated.
The voting sessions will take place between October 15th and 30th in various locations across the municipality. The first community assembly will be for Candelaria Casco on Tuesday, October 15th, at the City Council's Plenary Hall. This will be followed by assemblies for Playa La Viuda (October 16th), Igueste (October 21st), Punta Larga (October 23rd), and a joint meeting for Araya, Las Cuevecitas, and Malpaís (October 24th), with subsequent sessions on October 30th and early November in Las Cuevecitas and Malpaís, respectively. All assemblies will run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The Councilor for Citizen Participation, Mónica Yanes, has encouraged residents to actively participate. "Every vote counts, and in processes like this, it makes a huge difference. I urge the people of Candelaria to come to their local assembly, because the proposals that move forward are the ones we will see executed," she said.
In addition to in-person voting, viable and non-viable proposals, along with their justifications, can be consulted and voted on through the online platform participa.candelaria.es.
This initiative is part of the municipal commitment to bring decision-making closer to citizens and ensure balanced investment across all areas of the municipality. For more information, interested individuals can contact the Department of Citizen Participation at extension 1316.
