The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Command has launched a special operation for the Canary Islands Patron Saint festival. Approximately 200 Civil Guard personnel will ensure citizen protection, traffic management, and incident prevention during the celebrations and the pilgrimage to the Marian town of Candelaria.
The operation integrates various specialties, including the Provincial Maritime Service, the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC), SEPRONA, the Traffic Group, the Pegaso Team with drones, the Air Unit, Judicial Police, and the Cynological Service, in addition to territorial units.
Authorities are requesting maximum caution from citizens and pilgrims, urging them to respect traffic restrictions on forest paths due to the declared risk of forest fire on the island.
This deployment is coordinated with the Cabildo of Tenerife, the Government of the Canary Islands, local police forces, Civil Protection, Tenerife Firefighters, and the Red Cross.
Aerial surveillance is complemented by helicopters and drones to monitor pedestrian flows and access routes to Candelaria. At sea, patrol boats are monitoring the coastline, while the Traffic Group is intensifying road checks to prevent accidents.
SEPRONA personnel are overseeing compliance with environmental regulations in mountain areas, with particular attention to restricted forest tracks. The primary objective is to ensure a peaceful day, prevent risks in the natural environment, and guarantee a rapid response to any emergency.
