Agents from the Investigation area of the La Orotava Main Post initiated inquiries after observing an increase in such offenses on roads and tourist spots near Teide. The investigation culminated in the location and arrest of the suspect 'in fraganti' as he was attempting to force open a car.
The detainee, who has numerous prior police records for similar incidents, is accused of one robbery with violence, two burglaries inside vehicles, and three thefts from car interiors. The total value of the stolen items exceeds 1,000 euros.
After concluding the proceedings, the arrested individual was handed over to the competent judicial authority. The court has issued a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching roads and viewpoints within the municipality of La Orotava, as well as the entire Teide National Park.
The Civil Guard has used this operation to remind visitors of basic precautions to prevent theft. They recommend not leaving valuables visible inside parked vehicles, keeping electronic devices like phones, cameras, or computers under surveillance, and using hotel safes for documents and valuables. They also advise keeping bags closed and secure in crowded places and being wary of suspicious strangers.
Finally, authorities suggest identifying and photographing jewelry or other valuable items, noting their distinctive features to aid in reporting any theft. They also recommend using public transport and not leaving luggage or personal belongings unattended during travel.
