The tourist city of Puerto de la Cruz is preparing to celebrate a new edition of its Oktoberfest, reaching its 53rd year. The event, organized by the Centro de Iniciativas y Turismo de Puerto de la Cruz, will take place on August 28, 29, and 30 with free admission, turning the Explanada del Muelle into a meeting point for German culture, music, gastronomy, and the characteristic local atmosphere.
The celebration will mark the closing of the Bavarian Week, which has featured concerts, parades, and various activities throughout the municipality since last Sunday. The Muelle Esplanade will function as a large festive terrace by the sea, offering beer, food, live music, and activities for all audiences. The event aims to strengthen the relationship between the Canary Islands and Germany through culture, tourism, and coexistence.
One of the main attractions will be the Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier, a beer specially brewed for the Munich Oktoberfest, which can be tasted in Tenerife before its celebration in the German city. This official beer will be available in limited quantities.
Music will be a highlight with performances by the Orquesta Reinheitsgebot from Germany, offering traditional sounds. They will be joined by other groups such as the Txaranga Band Tocats, the 101 Brass Band, and The Vid Band, who will liven up the venue with different musical styles.
The gastronomic offerings will include pretzels, sausages, and other typical Central European dishes, complementing the beer and music experience.
On Sunday, August 30, the family-friendly aspect will be enhanced with the Oktoberfest Infantil (Children's Oktoberfest), aimed at children aged 4 to 14, featuring activities like face painting, crafts, and traditional games. The Dogtoberfest will also take place, allowing dogs to attend with rules for coexistence and animal welfare.
The tradition of the Oktoberfest Puerto de la Cruz dates back to 1973, establishing it as one of the longest-running cultural and tourist events in the municipality, adapting to local residents and visitors.
