This Sunday, Los Realejos celebrates the 68th edition of the El Carmen Cycling Belt, a sporting event established in the local festivities that will feature the participation of 169 cyclists.

The race, which will take place on an urban circuit between San Agustín and San Vicente, anticipates the participation of 169 cyclists, of whom 65 are registered children and teenagers. The event was presented by the mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo González, and the Councilor for Sports, Samuel Farráis, who highlighted the popularity and tradition of this race.
The Sports and Festivities departments of Los Realejos, in collaboration with the Club Deportivo 53, are organizing this event. The youth categories will begin the competition at 09:00 AM, offering an opportunity to witness the talent of young Canary Islands cyclists and promote sports values.
Starting at 10:00 AM, the main race will commence with 104 participants. The route, known as the ‘Circuito de La Papa’ (Potato Circuit), will pass through emblematic streets such as La Alhóndiga, Siete Fuentes, El Mar, El Carmen, García Estrada, Puerto, Puerto Franco, El Patronato, Carretera de San Vicente, Princesa Dácil, San Vicente, and Cantillo de Abajo, before returning to San Agustín. The mentioned streets will be closed to traffic during the event.
The start line will be established on Calle La Alhóndiga, in front of the headquarters of the Sociedad Casino Realejos. Upon completion of the races, participants will offer a tribute to the image of Nuestra Señora del Carmen at her sanctuary. The trophy presentation is estimated to take place around 1:00 PM.
The organization invites residents and cycling and sports enthusiasts to enjoy this day filled with excitement and camaraderie, supporting the participants and contributing to the festive atmosphere of a race that, after almost seven decades of history, continues to be a symbol of Canarian cycling and the Festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen.
