This financial injection, which exceeds last year's figure by 800 euros, aims to further support the bands' activities, projects, and the teaching within their music academies.
The mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo González, recalled that the initiation of a honors process for both ensembles has been announced, proposing the award of the Gold Medal of the Villa. He highlighted them as established entities with a long and recognized artistic trajectory in Los Realejos and on the island of Tenerife, whose public recognition is complemented by the annual financial support demonstrating the municipal commitment to culture and musical education.
The mayor emphasized that the coexistence of the two bands is a distinguishing feature of the municipality, ensembles that they are proud of and which have proven their quality not only through concerts, processions, or artistic projects, but also through their significant educational work in their prestigious academies, training many generations of aspiring musicians.
The subsidies cover labor and fiscal costs for staff, remuneration, maintenance expenses, travel, and associated technical training, acquisition or repair of instruments, sheet music, and uniforms, broadcasts or recordings, and the commitment to participate in civic-religious events or concerts coordinated with the municipal corporation. The bands must submit an evaluative and justificatory report of the economic actions and services performed.
The Councilor for Culture, Alba Hernández, noted that, according to data provided by both bands, their combined student body exceeds one hundred people of all ages, with children and young people most commonly enrolling, many of whom later join the ranks of the Sociedad Musical Filarmónica de Los Realejos or Agrupación Musical Cruz Santa.
Hernández highlighted that the financial support for the music bands is complemented by a significant budget allocated to teaching in the Artistic Schools and the School of Music and Dance, as well as subsidies to various folk groups and other cultural collectives, all to ensure they can continue developing local artistic activities and enriching the cultural heritage.
