The construction of the new municipal swimming pool and sports complex in Los Realejos has been awarded for the sum of 9,319,766.83 euros to the company Satocan S.A. The project is supported by a multi-year co-financing agreement between the Ayuntamiento de Los Realejos, the Cabildo de Tenerife, and the Government of the Canary Islands.
The Councilor for Public Works, Darío Pérez, announced that the tender process for the technical direction is in its final stages. The local government estimates the commencement of work before the end of the current year 2026.
The mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo González, highlighted that despite delays due to the project's scale, feasibility studies, and market price increases, the awarding of the works represents a "major step" for the municipality.
This new sports and health facility, described as a "pending matter," will include not only pools for various uses (training, rehabilitation, initiation) but also a gymnasium, training rooms, a cafeteria, and other complementary services.
The Councilor for Sports, Samuel Farráis, assured that the current pool service will remain operational while the new infrastructure is being built.
The new pool will be constructed on the plot behind the current facilities. The first phase will involve the execution of three distinct pools, after which aquatic activities will move to the new area, repurposing the existing pool into the dry sports zone of the complex.
The basic project was drafted by 2RAEstudio Ingeniería y Arquitectura, led by architect Pablo Cionfrini-Lezzi, while the execution project was developed by the UTE Realejos Bonilla González, comprising architects José María González Ibáñez and Germán Bonilla Montijano.
