The Los Realejos City Council has begun renovation work to transform premises in the Plaza de San Agustín into a new local Social Work Unit (UTS).

Through the ‘Barrios Plan’, the council is renovating the ground floor premises of the Plaza de San Agustín to create new municipal offices for social care. These facilities will house two social workers and a room for the child protection team, along with adapted restrooms.
The mayor, Adolfo González, along with the Councilor for Social Welfare, Luz Pilar García, and the Councilor for Public Works, Darío Pérez, visited the site to oversee the initial adaptation work.
Adolfo González highlighted the recovery of a public space that had been disused for many years. He emphasized that these new offices will improve and bring social services closer to residents, avoiding travel for those in San Agustín, La Carrera, Los Barros, Realejo Bajo, Tigaiga, San Vicente, and Los Príncipes, thereby strongly supporting the decentralization of public services.
The Councilor for Social Welfare recalled that the municipal UTS network already has locations in Icod el Alto, Palo Blanco, La Montaña, Toscal Longuera, and the Casco-Alto district, to which this new location in San Agustín will be added.
