The Granadilla de Abona City Council has inaugurated the new ‘Nuestra Señora del Rosario’ funeral parlors, a facility costing over a million euros designed to offer a dignified and comfortable service to residents.

The municipality of Granadilla de Abona has had the new ‘Nuestra Señora del Rosario’ funeral parlors since yesterday, Thursday, August 27. Located on a 1,153 square meter plot on Calle El Pino in the town center, these facilities respond to a long-standing citizen demand and represent an municipal investment exceeding one million euros.
Mayor José Domingo Regalado highlighted the importance of this new facility, the first of its kind in the municipality, which will allow families to hold wakes, remember, and bid farewell to their loved ones in a comfortable and dignified environment, avoiding the need to travel to other areas such as Charco del Pino or El Médano.
The Councilor for Public Works, Marcos Antonio Rodríguez, noted that the project's completion, which began with the acquisition of the plot in 2018, marks a significant step forward in improving public services. A modification to the General Urban Planning Plan was necessary to site these modern facilities, adapted to current needs, as previous regulations only permitted such services within or adjacent to the municipal cemetery.
The building, located about 100 meters from the San Antonio de Padua church, is spread over three floors. The ground floor houses spaces for staff, offices, storage, restrooms, a kitchen-dining area, and changing rooms, in addition to areas for the arrival and departure of coffins. The upper floor contains two wake rooms, family areas, a balcony, an interior patio, bathrooms, and kitchens. The design aims to provide a tranquil and suitable environment for delicate moments, and includes an outdoor parking area with spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility.
The opening of the ‘Nuestra Señora del Rosario’ funeral parlors fulfills a municipal commitment and provides the town center of Granadilla de Abona with an essential public service, ensuring privacy, comfort, and dignity for families during times of grief.
