The LGBTIQA association Diversas Canarias has publicly criticized the decisions made by the municipalities of Arona and Granadilla de Abona, in southern Tenerife, regarding Pride activities.

The entity Diversas Canarias has highlighted the political stance of the two municipalities in the archipelago currently governed by the far-right, Arona and Granadilla de Abona, concerning measures adopted for LGBTIQA+ Pride month.
Specifically, the cancellation of all Pride events planned by the Granadilla de Abona City Council has been noted. The association attributes this decision, justified by administrative reasons, to the "far-right ideology" of the VOX members governing the municipality.
Furthermore, concerns are raised about the Pride program disseminated by the Arona City Council, which, according to Diversas, "stands out for the absolute absence of a gender perspective." The entity criticizes that all protagonists in the planned activities are men, deeming it "absolutely inadmissible" during a month that should be characterized by inclusion.

"It is entirely reasonable that institutions that unashamedly allow the far-right into their local governments lack the foresight to organize a Pride program that meets the standards our community requires, further justifying the decision we made at the time for these institutions not to have the complicity of the activism that has fought tooth and nail to win the rights that the far-right seeks to steal from us."

Diversas recalls that activist groups on the island of Tenerife severed institutional ties with both administrations upon their inclusion of the far-right in their governments, calling it a "historic betrayal." Despite this, the entity continues to support vulnerable populations in both localities and coordinates with technical staff to "not marginalize those whom the far-right despises with its fascist ideology."
The association emphasizes "the need to continue confronting far-right ideology with the defense of an anti-fascist Pride that leaves no one behind," urging participation in the demonstration called by Tenerife's LGBTIQA+ activism in the municipality of La Orotava.
