The mobile extraction point will be operational in the morning from 10:15 AM to 1:45 PM and in the afternoon from 5:00 PM to 8:45 PM. The SCS encourages residents and visitors of the municipality, as well as those from nearby towns, to participate in this event to contribute to the supply of blood products for Canary Islands hospitals.
In addition to this initiative, it is reminded that blood donation can be made at several fixed points in Tenerife. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the fixed point at Méndez Núñez is open Monday to Friday from 9:15 AM to 8:15 PM.
At the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla de Abona, the hours are Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM and from 2:15 PM to 7:30 PM. This center has reserved parking for donors.
Hospitals also offer walk-in donation points. The University Hospital of the Canary Islands allows donations from Sunday to Friday and on holidays from 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM, and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Other donation points include Hospiten Bellevue in Puerto de la Cruz (by appointment) and the San Juan de Dios Hospital on the road from Santa Cruz to La Laguna.
The basic requirements to donate blood include being between eighteen and 65 years old (up to sixty for a first donation), weighing over fifty kilograms, and being in generally good health. For more information, you can call the free donor assistance line 900 234 061.
