The Council of Tacoronte approved this midday a budget modification of 1.15 million euros and the provisional suspension of the waste fee for nearly a thousand local establishments.

The ordinary plenary session in Tacoronte addressed various matters, highlighting the approval of a modification to the 2026 Budget and the provisional suspension of waste fee settlements for approximately one thousand local businesses. The credit modification, totaling €805,000 in supplements and €346,399 in extraordinary credits, is financed by the Treasury Remnant for General Expenses.
The increased budget will be allocated to projects and initiatives for the last quarter of the year, covering areas such as culture, Christmas activities, tourism, agriculture, social participation, active aging, sports, and Civil Protection. Extraordinary credits will fund repairs at the Los Nades Municipal Center and Hogar Taifa, equipment for social centers and Civil Protection, and the acquisition of ornamental lighting, as well as improvements to the playground in Salvador Goya square in Agua García.
This municipal budget increase was supported by the governing coalition (PSOE, CC, and PP), while the opposition parties (NC, ST, SíSePuede, and C´s) voted against it. Unanimously, the council approved the local holidays for 2027: Tuesday of Carnival (February 23rd) and November 25th, the feast day of Santa Catalina, the city's patron saint.
The restoration of the economic-financial balance for the management contract of the covered and heated Municipal Swimming Pool and the Sports City of Tacoronte, with the company Gestiona Explotaciones y Servicios de Canarias SL, was also approved. This measure, supported by an audit report that determined a corrected accumulated loss of 371,637 euros, was adopted with 13 votes in favor (governing group + C´s) and abstentions from NC and ST, while SíSePuede voted against.
At the request of Nueva Canarias, a motion for the review and provisional suspension of the 2026 waste fee settlements for nearly a thousand businesses was debated and approved. The spokesperson for NC, José Daniel Díaz, advocated for a comprehensive review and the suspension of collection actions. The agreement passed with votes in favor from NC, ST, SíSePuede, and C´s, and the abstention of the local government.
Eduardo Dávila, Councilor for Finance, stated that Díaz's request would only delay the tax payment, potentially harming affected taxpayers. Despite this, the government abstained to facilitate the approval of the opposition's motion.
