The municipality of Tacoronte ended September 2026 with 1,712 unemployed people, 22.3% less than in July 2023, according to data from the Local Employment and Development Agency.

The municipality of Tacoronte has registered 1,712 unemployed people by the end of September 2026. This figure represents a decrease of 22.3% compared to July 2023, when the number of unemployed stood at 2,203 people. The data indicates a positive trend in the local labor market.
The Local Employment and Development Agency of Tacoronte, led by Eduardo Dávila, emphasizes the importance of analyzing unemployment beyond global figures. The aim is to ensure that improvements also benefit those facing greater difficulties in accessing the labor market.
Of the 1,712 unemployed individuals in September, 985 are women (57.5%) and 727 are men. 47% of the unemployed are long-term unemployed, and 1,065 people (62.2%) are 45 years or older. Among employed individuals, part-time work affects 23.3% of women compared to 11.8% of men.
Eduardo Dávila stresses that these indicators should guide municipal policies towards the specific needs of job seekers. "The decrease in unemployment encourages us to continue working, but we cannot be complacent. It compels us to look beyond that figure and ask ourselves who is still looking for employment, what opportunities they find, and what we can do from the City Council to support them," he stated.
The head of the Local Employment and Development Agency explained that unemployment trends are multifactorial and that municipal action should focus on coordinating available resources. "Employment involves economic activity, businesses, policies from other administrations, and individuals' own decisions. The City Council's responsibility is to leverage this context and better organize its resources: securing employment programs, offering training, facilitating inclusion, and connecting those who can help generate opportunities," he detailed.
In this context, the Municipal Employment Plan aims to strengthen coordination among administrations, social entities, businesses, and sector professionals to create an "employment ecosystem" within the municipality. The goal is to improve training, connect it with the business reality, and optimize program funding.
The municipal strategy also proposes greater integration between employment and social policies, recognizing that factors such as work-life balance, mobility, vulnerability, or housing access can affect job opportunities. "Looking for a job may require more than just training or experience. Other factors are involved, such as work-life balance, mobility, or a situation of vulnerability. Even access to housing can condition a person's prospects. That's why I argue that employment and social policies must be coordinated in municipal management," concluded Eduardo Dávila.
The Local Employment and Development Agency will continue working to consolidate the reduction in unemployment, improve employability, expand training opportunities, and foster greater connection between job seekers and the business community of Tacoronte.
