Arucas celebrated a special edition of its pilgrimage-offering in honor of San Juan Bautista this Saturday, commemorating 50 years of this emblematic tradition.

The festival, under the motto '50 years living traditions', brought together hundreds of residents and visitors who filled the historic center's streets, transforming them into a vibrant showcase of Canarian popular culture. The procession, composed of fourteen decorated carts, departed from the intersection of Acequia Alta and La Cerera streets, parading through avenues such as Acequia Alta, Barranquillo, plaza de la Constitución, León y Castillo, and plaza de la Paz, where the offering to the patron saint took place.
Pilgrims dressed in traditional Canarian attire accompanied the carts, while folklore groups and parrandas enlivened the route with music and dance, creating a festive atmosphere of deep traditional roots.
The Constitución and Paz squares became the main meeting points for the public, who enjoyed musical performances and followed the pilgrimage's procession from the designated areas.
The festive day will continue after the pilgrimage in San Juan square with a Baile de Taifas (traditional dance) accompanied by the Parranda de Guaguas Municipales and a Canarian verbena (street party) by Las Ladys del Swing. In parallel, on Carretera del Lomo, performances by Grupo Acuarela and DJ Asped will take place.
