The Government of Canarias has launched a new call for subsidies to support local contemporary art, with individual grants of up to 4,000 euros per creator for projects in 2026.

The counselor for Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture has promoted this initiative, which seeks to strengthen the artistic fabric and contemporary creation in the archipelago. Although the full information will be published in the Official Gazette of Canarias (BOC), details are already available on the official website of the Government's Culture department.
The call has a total allocation of 200,000 euros, which will be distributed in individual grants. The program is aimed at creators with projects under development during 2026, covering disciplines such as painting, sculpture, photography, video, digital art, and installation. Individuals residing in Canarias who are registered in the Economic Activities Tax (IAE) may apply for these grants. Legal entities are not included in this specific call. A technical commission will evaluate applications based on criteria of quality, viability, and the professional trajectory of the applicants.
To formalize the application through the electronic headquarters of the Government of Canarias, interested parties must submit a detailed execution timeline, a breakdown budget, the author's curriculum vitae, and supporting graphic material. This package of aid not only aims to promote current creative languages but also to foster values of innovation, diversity, and social cohesion through art throughout the archipelago.
