The Canary Health Service (SCS), through the General Directorate of Blood Donation and Hemotherapy, coordinated this initiative in collaboration with the Military Emergencies Unit (UME). Collection points located in La Laguna and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria facilitated citizen registration in the Spanish Bone Marrow Donor Registry (Redmo).
The campaign, which took place between Friday and Sunday, aimed to raise awareness about the need for young donors. According to established criteria, healthy individuals aged 18 to 40 can register in the database, remaining active until age 60, which ensures better clinical compatibility for patients requiring transplants.
To participate, interested individuals must complete a form on the official website canarias.medulaosea.org and undergo a blood draw for HLA typing. Subsequently, the Canary Islands Autonomous Transplant Coordination contacts users to finalize the registration at hospital centers across the islands.
