The 2027 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival, themed 'Music,' will take place from January 22 to February 28, spanning 38 days.

The organization for the 2027 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival, with 'Music' as its central theme, has expressed its desire to feature a performance by international artist Quevedo. The festival, set to last 38 days, will run from January 22 to February 28.
The artistic director of the festivities, Josué Quevedo, presented the event schedule and conveyed the organization's enthusiasm for potentially including the island-born singer in the lineup. While the full roster of international artists is yet to be finalized, the intention remains to allocate 85% of contracts to internationally recognized figures.
A significant structural change announced is the advancement of the Queen's Gala to February 8, the eve of Shrove Tuesday, aiming to boost the start of the street carnival.
The official calendar includes events such as the announcing parade and opening speech on January 22, followed by children's and adult murga and comparsa contests between January 23 and February 5. The Children's Queen Gala is scheduled for January 31, the Grand Dame on February 5, and the adult costume contest on February 6.
Other key events include the Canine Carnival on February 7, the Queen's Gala on February 8, the Drag Queen Gala on February 19, and the Grand Parade on February 20. The festivities will conclude on February 28 with 'Viudas a la Carrera' (Running Widows) and the Burial of the Sardine.
The area's councilor, Héctor Alemán, defended the carnival's successful model, noting that the 2026 edition generated an economic impact of 40 million euros for the city, particularly benefiting the transport sector, hotels, and businesses near Santa Catalina.
Josué Quevedo also highlighted the positive reception of the daytime carnival, stating that 'the street is full and speaks,' in response to minority criticisms.
The artistic direction confirmed that the Grand Parade will maintain its usual route, with adjustments in the Santa Catalina area to ensure the spectacular queen costumes can parade without technical issues.
