The international nautical events ARC and ARC+ will once again use the Port of Las Palmas as their starting point during October and November. Organizers are finalizing details to welcome the 197 registered crews who will set sail from the capital of Gran Canaria.
The first to arrive will be the 84 boats of the ARC+, expected between October 28th and November 1st. These participants, representing 21 nationalities, will depart for Mindelo, in São Vicente (Cape Verde), on November 8th, and from there will continue their journey to St. George's, in Grenada, on November 20th. Among them is the Spanish boat Escalofrío.
Subsequently, the Small Craft Dock of the Port of Las Palmas will prepare to host the 113 crews of the main regatta, the ARC. These sailboats and catamarans will connect Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with Rodney Bay, in Saint Lucia. Their arrival is scheduled between November 10th and 15th, with the departure towards the Caribbean set for the 22nd.
The provisional list of entries for the ARC reveals the participation of 30 different nationalities. Similar to the ARC+, there will be one Spanish boat on this crossing, the Oummoulcolzom.
During the vessels' stay at the Muelle Deportivo, various promotional activities will be organized both at the port and in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Highlights include flag parades and the regatta departures, which attract numerous spectators. Last year also saw the revival of the traditional dinghy race.
