Coalición Canaria (CC) has announced that if it forms the municipal government of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 2027, it will halt the MetroGuagua project, which it considers "poorly planned" and a "waste of public money".

The nationalist party has expressed its "frontal rejection" of the project's current development, citing "disastrous management and planning of public resources". According to CC, the lack of results and guarantees from the City Council is evident, noting that public funds allocated to the project have had to be returned due to non-execution.

"It has already been shown that more funding and more time are not the solution to a project that was poorly planned from the start."

David Suárez · Municipal Spokesperson for CC in the City Council
The municipal spokesperson for CC in the City Council, David Suárez, described his party's stance as a "resounding no" to the MetroGuagua, considering it a "definitive rejection of continuing to waste taxpayers' money on a project without direction, without deadlines, without results, and without credibility".
For her part, the general secretary of CC in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Esther Monzón, criticized that the project has divided neighborhoods, significantly affecting local economic activity and the daily lives of merchants and residents. Monzón lamented that the city is "trapped in an endless construction project" with "ruined merchants, resigned residents, users without real solutions".

"The disillusionment of the citizenry with this project is an unquestionable fact."

Coalición Canaria has reaffirmed its commitment to a sustainable mobility model, based on efficient and high-capacity public transport. The party insists on the need to develop projects with rigorous planning, defined deadlines, and tangible results.
The Secretary of Sustainable Mobility for Coalición Canaria Gran Canaria and Civil Engineer, Julio Rodríguez, explained that the party will propose the recovery of affected areas and the design of a new mobility model. This new model would be built "through dialogue with experts and professionals in transport, urban planning, and sustainable mobility, social groups, and economic sectors".
