The political party Coalición Canaria has launched a signature collection campaign in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to express their opposition to the current MetroGuagua project.

Representatives of the party set up an information tent at Parque Santa Catalina last Saturday. According to data provided by the party, the initiative has gathered over 3,200 signatures, both in person and through a digital platform.
Local party officials have stated their intention to halt the project if they win the next election at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council. They have criticized the design, which was first proposed in 2015, for lacking a clear completion date after years of construction.
The party has questioned the financial management of the project, noting that the council has had to return funds to both the Government of the Canary Islands and the State due to lack of execution in certain sections. They also highlighted the negative impact the prolonged works are having on local businesses.
The party announced that it will continue its mobilization campaign next Saturday at the Mesa y López boulevard, aiming to continue gathering support for its proposal to review the current mobility model.
