Member of Parliament Cristina Valido announced in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria that she will promote amendments to the Framework Statute to improve the situation of various healthcare collectives.

The nationalist party Coalition Canaria (CC) will advocate for changes in the professional classification and working conditions of Technicians in Nursing Care (TCAE), orderlies, healthcare specialists, and administrative assistants. Congresswoman Cristina Valido pledged to push for these amendments to the future Framework Statute for statutory personnel in health services.
Following a meeting in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with representatives from TCAE Canarias and the Asamblea 7 Islas, Valido explained that the proposals will be presented when the text reaches Congress. The aim is to rectify discrepancies in the professional classification of healthcare personnel, particularly for TCAs, who are currently classified under sub-group C2, a classification they deem inconsistent with their training and daily caregiving duties.
Among the proposals is a request for the Ministry of Health to develop a technical report, in collaboration with autonomous communities and trade unions, to analyze the actual functions and responsibilities of each category within the National Health System and update the classification system. These measures would be accompanied by salary improvements and changes in professional career paths, including periodic calls for applications and recognition of accumulated experience.
Coalition Canaria believes the reform of the Framework Statute presents an opportunity to address structural issues affecting healthcare professionals for years. They emphasize that the TCAE collective is highly feminized, thus the reform must also tackle the dimension of inequality in recognizing these roles. Valido stated that these modifications would not only improve working conditions but also enhance the quality of public healthcare.
