The Cabildo de Gran Canaria has funded the replacement of the artificial turf at the La Angostura football field in Santa Brígida, with an investment of 324,263.87 euros.

The sports facility, managed by the Municipal Sports Society (SMD) of the Santa Brígida City Council, now boasts a state-of-the-art FieldTurf playing surface, 45 millimeters high, with Puregrain ecological infill. This project, part of the Cabildo's Sports Infrastructure Improvement Plan, replaces turf over 20 years old, ensuring greater safety, sustainability, and playing quality.
The works also included markings for 11-a-side and 7-a-side football, adaptation for American football according to current regulations, and the reinstallation of sports equipment. During the visit, the president of the Cabildo, Antonio Morales, and the Sports Minister, Aridany Romero, inspected the results alongside the mayor of Santa Brígida, José Armengol, and the Sports Councilor, Carlos Carrión.
Antonio Morales highlighted the Cabildo's role in improving sports infrastructure and promoting physical activity for all ages, emphasizing collaboration with the municipalities. Meanwhile, Aridany Romero stressed that the Insular Institute of Sports (IID) serves the 21 municipalities to create safer and more accessible sports environments.
The La Angostura field, also known as the Municipal Stadium of El Guiniguada, is home to clubs such as Club Atlético Angostura and the Canarias Canes, and hosts municipal sports schools, establishing itself as a key space for sports and social coexistence in Santa Brígida.
