The Skandi Hera, an offshore support vessel of Norwegian origin, has called at the Muelle Reina Sofía berth in the Port of Las Palmas. Its arrival follows its participation in the Vaca Muerta Oil Sur project in Argentine waters, where it was responsible for installing floating ports to facilitate the loading and unloading of hydrocarbons.
This maritime giant, measuring 93.8 meters in length and 23 meters in beam, stands out for its considerable towing power, capable of pulling over 300 tons. Its advanced dynamic positioning system allows it to maintain stability during complex offshore maneuvers, regardless of weather conditions.
With capacity to accommodate around 70 people, the Skandi Hera has been utilized by DOF Group for missions such as the installation of oil terminals. These anchored platforms act as floating ports, enabling oil tankers to load and unload hydrocarbons via subsea pipelines, away from the coast.
To carry out these operations, the vessel is equipped with cargo holds and a deck adapted for transporting giant anchors and heavy chains, as well as featuring a diving bell and high-capacity cranes.
The Skandi Hera arrived in Las Palmas this Monday, following its stay in Brazil, where DOF Group maintains a strategic base in Macaé. Although its departure date and next destination have not yet been notified, its stay in the Gran Canaria port is expected to be brief. During its stopover, it will receive husbandry services from GAC Shipping Spain and will welcome new crew members at the southern extension of the Muelle Reina Sofía.
