The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) confirms that the pontiff's visit to Gran Canaria will be marked by contrasting weather, with sun in Arguineguín and cloud cover in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The meteorological forecast for the Pope's visit to Gran Canaria presents a mixed picture. While the south of the island, specifically in Arguineguín, is expected to enjoy partly cloudy skies and maximum temperatures of up to 26 degrees Celsius, the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will face the day under cloud cover and with cooler temperatures.
The pontiff's arrival is scheduled for 10:50 AM. At that time, the island will experience stable atmospheric conditions but with significant differences between municipalities. The moment of greatest sunshine is anticipated for 11:40 AM in Arguineguín, the only location on the itinerary where the sun will be the main feature.
However, upon moving to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the situation will change. At 1:30 PM, coinciding with events in the Plaza de Santa Ana, temperatures are expected to be around 22 degrees Celsius with very cloudy skies. This trend will continue until 2:00 PM, during the opening of the fan zone, with mild temperatures and abundant cloudiness.
A slight improvement is anticipated for the afternoon in the capital. By 6:30 PM, attendees at scheduled events might experience partly cloudy skies and temperatures close to 22 degrees Celsius. Despite this improvement, the contrast with the south of the island, which will enjoy a fully summery atmosphere, will remain evident.
Aemet's forecast emphasizes that the encounter with the sun will be limited to Arguineguín, while the rest of the events in the Gran Canaria capital will take place under cloudy skies, a scenario that could be favorable for the thousands of faithful expected to attend.
