Tilman Kuttenkeuler, who until last Tuesday served as the general director of the Auditorium and Theatre Foundation of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, has filed two legal actions: one labor-related and another administrative-contentious. Both are directed against the entity that manages the Alfredo Kraus and Pérez Galdós halls.
According to consulted sources, both lawsuits have been admitted for processing, and dates have been set for the respective trials. The administrative-contentious claim targets the public selection process for a new general director, approved by the Board and published on March 27 in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.
“"Work is underway to select the new general director after the call for applications closed."
The Board had previously received a request for reconsideration against these terms, filed by Kuttenkeuler, which was dismissed. The former director believes the guidelines lack transparency and clear evaluation criteria or objective rules for assessing candidates.
Despite the lawsuit, the Foundation is proceeding with its selection process, which is currently in the analysis and evaluation phase of the submitted applications. The submission deadline was April 11.
The competition's terms stipulated an annual salary of 87,124.44 euros in fourteen installments, with a five-year contract. In his labor claim, Kuttenkeuler alleges a breach of a contract addendum requiring one year's notice for non-renewal, which he states was not met.
His departure was on the 23rd.
The Board informed him of his non-continuation on March 23, stating he would remain in his role until June 23. The ceremony for Honors and Distinctions, held by the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, marked his final official activity after a decade leading the institution.
While the Board resolves the selection of the new director, the Foundation is focusing on the final stretch of the current season, with the 2026/27 season already fully programmed. This program is expected to be publicly announced in early September.
