The event, held at the annex to the Barreto sports area, exceeded expectations regarding the number of animals present. This initiative, promoted by the Arucas City Council through its Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, aims to boost the livestock sector and preserve traditional Canarian rural practices.
Various livestock categories were awarded, including native cattle, foreign/crossbred cattle, goats, and sheep. The bovine categories received a larger share of the prize money, with 2,760 euros distributed among them, while the goat and sheep categories totaled 1,140 euros in prizes.
In addition to the livestock exhibition and awards, attendees enjoyed various demonstrations. These included showcasing 30 examples of the Canarian buchón pigeon, as well as demonstrations of traditional animal dragging, threshing, and shearing, highlighting trades and practices linked to rural life.
