The Canary Islands Day celebration will be held in grand style in Gran Canaria, with a packed schedule of events spread throughout the island on Friday, May 29th, and Saturday, May 30th.
In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on Friday, May 29th, the Plaza de Santa Ana will host the 'La isla de mi vida' festival (7:30 PM - 12:00 AM), offering free entry with parades and performances by Canarian artists like DJ Saot ST. Also in the capital, the 'Pintaderas' exhibition, honoring island tradition, will be available at the CICCA theater. The Plaza del Pilar de Guanarteme will host a 'Baile de Taifas' (9:00 PM - 11:00 PM), requiring traditional attire. The Canariona Festival, also at Plaza de Santa Ana, will feature music and free activities for the whole family with artists like Juseph and Nia. The rectorate of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will host the 'Foro del Valor Compartido 2026' (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM). The Mercado de Vegueta will be the venue for the Mojo Contest on May 29th and 30th (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM), with tasting and public voting. The annex of the Estadio de Gran Canaria will host the 'Canarias Manga Festival' (May 29-31, tickets at 25 euros). The CC Las Ramblas will offer a Pintaderas Workshop (5:00 PM - 6:30 PM), while the Alexis Ravelo Municipal Library in Tamaraceite will hold a free board games session for ages 12+ (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM). The Círculo Mercantil in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is organizing dances (6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, 3 euros). Infecar will host the Canariona Concert (6:00 PM - 12:00 AM). The Guiniguada theater will feature a monologue by Kike Pérez (8:00 PM - 9:30 PM), and the Club Musical Distinto will present the comedy show 'Jorge y...' (8:00 PM, 5 euros). The 16th edition of the Paseo Romero Club Victoria will start at Santa Catalina.
Other towns are also joining the celebration. In Teror, there will be an Offering-Romería by educational centers at the Alameda Pío XII and the area around the Pino basilica. Agüimes will offer the Crea, muévete y canta Workshops at the Municipal Music School until May 29th. Artenara will celebrate the Romería de San Isidro. Valleseco will exhibit 'Canarian Music on Vinyl' at the Audiotrio until June 15th. The Villa de Santa Brígida will have family activities at its Municipal Market starting at 11:00 AM. In Telde, the San Gregorio Open Commercial Zone will host the II Canary Islands Day Gastronomic Conference (May 28-30) and the 'Parrandeando entre mesas' event in the Plaza de San Juan (from 8:30 PM). Vega de San Mateo will organize a Canarian Cultural Festival for Seniors at the Senior Club (from 9:00 PM).
On Saturday, May 30th, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will continue the festivities with a Special Canary Islands Day Event at CC Las Ramblas (from 3:00 PM, free access), Isla Perdida at CC Las Arenas (free access), and the Comando Canario Fest at Canarias en Vivo (tickets from 15 euros). The Fiesta El Bailadero will feature concerts (from 11:59 PM, tickets from 12 euros). The night will include tributes to Quevedo, Lucho RK, and La Pantera at Sentido Club. The Alfredo Kraus Auditorium will host the presentation of the Premios Canarias 2026 and twelve Gold Medals of the Canary Islands, recognizing figures such as Braulio, Ron Arehucas, and the Ámate association.
Other towns will also have notable activities on Saturday, May 30th. Teror will offer gymkhanas, donkey rides, and a concert by Los Medianeros at the Alameda Pío XII (11:00 AM - 2:00 PM). Moya will host a concert by Pastora Soler and a Latin Night with Armonía Show. Maspalomas will celebrate the second edition of the Chacho Pool Party 2 at the Ocean Club. Vega de San Mateo will continue its Canary Islands Week (until June 4th) with an Artisan Fair by FEDAC (from 10:00 AM) and concerts by Amasijo and La Polvajera (from 11:00 AM), as well as a popular tasting of 'papas arrugás' with mojo (from 12:30 PM) in the Plaza de la Solidaridad. Telde will celebrate Canary Islands Day in various locations with fairs, workshops, and performances, culminating with a concert by the Banda de Agaete. Vega de San Mateo will also host a Canarian Cultural Festival for Seniors.
