The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas has approved the transfer of shares from Hamilton y Compañía, S.A. to the company Astilleros Canarias, S.A. This operation involves a concession of 8,076 m2, which was granted in February 2019 following a public tender and is valid until December 2047.
The concession is intended for naval repairs and a multipurpose terminal, including the unloading of non-food solid bulk materials such as barite, bentonite, and cement, but excluding containers.
In the same extraordinary session, approval was given to the request for an extension until March 31, 2027, for the completion of works by Crew Pass Day & Coworking, S.L. These works involve the construction of a VIP lounge for passengers and crews in the Crew Center Las Palmas building.
The concessionaire cited technical deficiencies in the initial project and the need to completely redefine the electrical solution, which required processing a new transformation center project and obtaining sectorial authorizations that were delayed.
Furthermore, the procedure for the tender of works for the Muelle adosado Dique Reina Sofía Sur was approved. This project, co-financed by FEDER Funds, includes a new 334.76-meter berthing line and has a base tender budget of 45.3 million euros, with an execution period of 20 months.
The contract for 'Maintenance and conservation services for the access control system to the docks of Puerto de Las Palmas' was extended until the end of the year. Additionally, the contract for 'Supply, installation, and maintenance services of new access control systems in the Port of Arrecife' was extended until February 2027.
Finally, the recusal incident filed by IR Maxoinversiones S.L.U. against the director of the Port Authority was dismissed, as the two lawsuits filed against him have been archived.
The president of the Board of Directors, Beatriz Calzada, reported that the position representing the Official Chambers of Commerce will again be held by the president of the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services, and Navigation of Gran Canaria, Luis Padrón, until February 25, 2029.
