The discovery occurred on May 4, when specialized drug detection dogs indicated a suspicious package in the inmate parcel area. This led officers to conduct a more detailed examination of the shipment using a scanner.
The inspection revealed anomalies in the seams of several towels included in the package. After a thorough review, officers found 18.30 grams of cocaine and 5.27 grams of heroin inside, which were immediately seized.
The National Police has reported these events to the penitentiary surveillance judge. These types of controls are carried out periodically to prevent the entry of drugs into prisons and ensure the security of the facilities.
