The current mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has publicly stated her intention to run for re-election in next year's municipal elections, conditional on her party's decision.

During her participation in the CANARIAS7 Forum, the mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria affirmed that she will run «with humility and with a track record and accountability for what we have done in this term», if her political party deems it appropriate. This statement marks the first time the local government leader publicly seals her intention to seek a new term.

"I will run, if the party decides so, with humility and with a track record and accountability for what we have done in this term."

The mayor addressed various key issues of her administration, such as urban cleanliness, housing, spending on the Carnival, and the MetroGuagua project. Regarding housing, she criticized the Government of Canarias for not declaring the city a stressed area, despite meeting the necessary requirements. She also defended the investment in the Carnival, highlighting its economic and television impact.
Furthermore, the mayor announced that the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV to the island and his overnight stay in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will be a historic moment, and that the municipal corporation will grant him the Keys to the City. This distinction has been awarded on rare occasions, with the last recipients in 1996 being several Nobel Prize winners in Medicine and the Prince of Asturias Award laureate Santiago Grisolía.
