The Canary Islands newspaper, represented by Misraim Rodríguez, Head of Design, and Adae Santana, graphic designer, accepted the award that distinguishes it among newspapers from 22 countries. This recognition highlights the quality and exemplary nature of its editorial design.
The European Newspaper Awards are considered the most prestigious journalistic design awards on the continent. The Canary Islands publication competed with media from 22 European countries, excelling in the local newspaper category and consolidating a track record of 74 mentions and awards since 2016.
The jury, composed of European specialists, praised the newspaper's careful and modern layout, defining it as "an exemplary local newspaper in Europe." Positive feedback was given for the use of white space, visual clarity, and the commitment to double-page spreads for key current affairs topics.
Experts also highlighted the use of visually impactful images on the cover and throughout the interior, as well as an elegant, spacious, and magazine-like visual style, a contemporary trend in editorial design.
This year's edition featured a diverse panel of professionals from countries such as Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, and Portugal, who evaluated creativity, functionality, and the media's ability to enhance the reader experience.
In addition to this award, the publications of the Prensa Ibérica group received over thirty accolades in the same edition, reinforcing their presence in the European journalistic landscape for press design.
