The competition, which is the third event of the Gran Canaria Cabildo Cup, will be held in a contest format. This modality involves navigating between buoys installed on the racecourse, which increases the technical skill required from the crews and allows fans following the event from the Avenida Marítima to get closer to the spectacle.
The overall standings of the Gran Canaria Cabildo Cup are very tight after the first two races. The boat Hospital La Paloma Pueblo Guanche currently leads with 4 points. They are closely followed by Villa de Teror Munchitos and Portuarios Puertos de Las Palmas, both with 5 points. Other competitors such as Chacalote Comercial Sanrob (9 points), Viajes Insular Unión Arenales Canaluz, and Spar Guerra del Río (both with 10 points) are also in contention.
In the following positions are Villa de Agüimes Ybarra (14 points), Unión San Cristóbal Restaurante Los Botes (16 points), DISA Roque Nublo ULPGC (18 points), Porteño Siscocan Cervezas Pío Pío (19 points), and Minerva Idamar Atlantic (22 points).
Due to the nature of the competition, which rewards consistency, the starting order for this third contest will be the reverse of the accumulated overall standings. Minerva Idamar Atlantic will be the first to set sail, followed by Porteño Siscocan Cervezas Pío Pío and DISA Roque Nublo ULPGC. Unión San Cristóbal Restaurante Los Botes will start in fourth place.
Next, Villa de Agüimes Ybarra and Spar Guerra del Río will start, in fifth and sixth positions respectively. Viajes Insular Unión Arenales Canaluz will take the seventh starting spot, with Chacalote Comercial Sanrob in eighth. The last three to begin the race will be Portuarios Puertos de Las Palmas, Villa de Teror Munchitos, and the current leader of the Gran Canaria Cabildo Cup, Hospital La Paloma Pueblo Guanche, who will start last with the aim of defending their leading position.
The Gran Canaria Cabildo Cup enters a crucial phase with two races already held and two more to come. Pueblo Guanche aims to consolidate its first place, while Villa de Teror and Portuarios will seek opportunities to move up. Boats like Chacalote Comercial Sanrob, Viajes Insular Arenales Canaluz, or Spar Guerra del Río still have a chance to get closer to the top positions.
The Canarian Latin Sailboat Federation of Boats will implement a land-based security device, which will involve closing two lanes of the Avenida Marítima. Additionally, free Municipal Guaguas (buses) service will be available for fans, and a live broadcast will be provided through the Federation's official social media channels.
