The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, highlighted that the Fuertebike has established itself as a mandatory sporting event, attracting athletes from both the Canary Islands and beyond, who choose Fuerteventura to enjoy its natural environment and sporting offerings.
Gleiber Carreño, the Councilor for Sports, described the event as the premier MTB race at an autonomous community level, allowing participants to discover unique corners of the municipality. This initiative represents a clear commitment from the Sports Department to La Oliva's sole MTB event.
David Fajardo, Councilor for Tourism and Environment, emphasized the presence of the Tourism and Environment pairing in the competition, demonstrating that sport, tourism, and environmental care are key to promoting the municipality.
For his part, Luiso González, Sports Councilor of the Fuerteventura Island Council, noted that the Fuertebike is one of the most anticipated events for Mountain Bike enthusiasts on the island. The Council supports the race, which is part of the insular sports aid program, valuing the positive experiences of participants, the excellent organization by Columbus, and the minimal environmental impact.
Ignacio Solana, CEO of Gesprotur, highlighted that the Fuertebike, in its thirteenth edition, is fully consolidated as a benchmark event, generating an economic impact exceeding 250,000 euros last year.
