A merchant vessel was intercepted by the Guardia Civil off the coast of Dakhla, south of Morocco, in an operation that resulted in the largest cocaine seizure at sea, subsequently being brought to the Port of Las Palmas.

The vessel, flying the flag of Comoros, docked last Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the naval base of the Port of Las Palmas. Its arrival followed its interception the previous Friday by the Guardia Civil in a large-scale anti-drug operation.
The intervention, carried out off the coast of Dakhla, has culminated in the seizure of the largest cocaine haul recorded to date on the high seas, marking a milestone in the fight against drug trafficking.
The ship, identified as the Arconian, arrived at the capital's port around 8:00 PM, at which point search and inspection operations immediately began on board by the competent authorities.
