The celebration of Carmen Day has brought together numerous devotees in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, who accompanied the religious image on its procession. This year, the figure debuts two cherubs and the Child Jesus sports a new dress, adding a touch of novelty to the traditional celebration.
The day began in the early morning, with fireworks waking the neighborhood to welcome the passage of the virgin. The bearers carried the image amidst cheers of "¡Viva la Virgen del Carmen!" and "!Bonita, bonita, bonita!", reflecting the deep devotion of the islanders.
