Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is preparing to commemorate Armed Forces Day next Saturday, May 23rd, with a day full of activities for all audiences.

Jerónimo Saavedra Square and La Cícer beach will be the main venues for this celebration, aiming to bring the work of the military units present in the archipelago closer to the citizens. Participating forces include the Army, the Navy, the Air and Space Force, the Civil Guard, and the Military Emergencies Unit (UME).
The day will begin at 10:00 AM with the traditional flag-raising ceremony. Following this, a static exhibition of military vehicles and equipment will open to the public, available until 8:00 PM. Morning highlights include a combat display by the Army (12:00 PM) and a canine exhibition by the Air and Space Force (12:15 PM).
One of the most anticipated moments will be a spectacular maritime rescue demonstration by a "Super Puma" helicopter from the 802 Search and Rescue Squadron at La Cícer beach (1:00 PM). Simultaneously, the Navy will conduct a simulated improvised explosive device (IED) disposal.
The afternoon program will feature more canine exhibitions from the Navy (4:45 PM) and the Army (5:00 PM). The official closing ceremony will commence at 6:15 PM with the arrival of authorities for the solemn flag-lowering, followed by an air and ground parade at 6:30 PM.
All activities are free and open to public participation, offering a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the work of the Armed Forces in the Canary Islands.
