Five football teams using the Jorge Pulido facilities have expressed dissatisfaction with the poor lighting from the recently renovated light towers, which has prevented them from competing at night. Real Club Victoria, UD Las Coloradas, Atlético Isleta, Interfaro, and UD Muelle Grande had to leave the field in January for improvements that, according to the Technical Committee of Referees, do not meet minimum requirements.
Sources from the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD) have informed this newspaper that the execution project for a comprehensive solution is now available. This action will include the installation of a new lighting system for the pitch and a complete renovation of the field's electrical installation, addressing the need structurally and definitively.
The capital's council recalled that technical services had to dismantle the original projectors due to the advanced deterioration of their supports, caused by exposure to an aggressive marine environment. A provisional lighting solution was installed to allow training sessions to continue, and efforts are underway to technically improve it so it can host official matches as soon as possible.

The news comes after the clubs' public complaint last Sunday, where they warned of the possibility of having to play their matches away from their usual facilities if the deficiencies were not rectified. The IMD, the field's owner, acknowledges these shortcomings.
For its part, the Popular Party, the main opposition force, has stated in a press release that the situation dates back further. They point out that in the fourth quarter of 2024, the IMD awarded a minor contract for 15,969.75 euros to draft the electrical and lighting project. However, in January 2026, the field had to be preemptively closed due to structural weakening in one of the old lighting towers, posing a risk to users.
