The coach of UD Las Palmas, Luis García, has highlighted the significance of every aspect in the decisive phase of the competition. With only eight matches left to play, García insists there is no room for mistakes in a league where parity is at its maximum, with four teams sharing the same points in playoff positions. “We cannot think that one match will be more important than another because it won’t be,” he stated.
The upcoming fixture at La Rosaleda is anticipated to be a “very beautiful match” in a stadium that “breathes football,” according to García. The coach expects a vibrant atmosphere, with a full stadium and the presence of “400 or 500 brave fans of ours,” which he considers a source of motivation for his players.
“"Playing these types of matches has to motivate us, more than anything."
Regarding Kirian’s form, García admitted he might have been wrong in trying to rush his return, but now celebrates his excellent moment. “He has grown a lot, not in terms of football, because he is exceptional, but in terms of conditioning and physicality,” he explained. His participation in the last three matches confirms his recovery, which is “very positive for everyone and, above all, for people who enjoy football.”
Despite five of the remaining eight matches being away from home, García shows no concern, emphasizing that Las Palmas is “one of the best away teams.” Regarding the possibility of direct promotion, which is four points away, the coach urges caution and to focus solely on the next game. “Let’s not make any kind of calculations, because nothing guarantees that winning will achieve important objectives,” he warned. The message for the fans is clear: “May they continue to have the enthusiasm they have, because enthusiasm moves mountains.”
The coach also referred to Málaga’s absences, though he assured that his focus is on his own team’s. Regarding Barcia’s recent benching, he clarified that it is due to high competition, describing him as an “extraordinary footballer, a first division player” and confirming that “he is happy where he is.”
