A 63-year-old man has been arrested in Telde by the National Police as the alleged perpetrator of property damage after setting fire to a parked car in a parking lot.

The incident occurred in the early hours of June 30. A police patrol conducting prevention duties observed a small fire near a parked vehicle in the area. Upon approaching, officers located a man nearby who, according to witnesses, had been tampering with the underside of the car.
One witness reported seeing the individual place pieces of wood under the car, which subsequently led to the fire, as detailed by the National Police. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and extinguished the flames.
As a result of the fire, one vehicle was completely destroyed, and another car parked next to it sustained burn damage to its front and side. Owners of other parked vehicles were contacted to move them and prevent the fire from spreading.
During a security search, officers confiscated a lighter from the detainee, and he also had soot residue on his hands. The arrested individual was subsequently handed over to the competent judicial authority.
