The incident unfolded around 11:00 AM on Sunday, when a Local Police patrol observed two motorcyclists driving erratically on the Rambla de la Concepción, in phase I of Jinámar.
Upon noticing the police presence, the drivers performed evasive maneuvers. One of them was recognized by officers from a previous intervention for driving under the influence of alcohol. Faced with this situation, the police issued a stop order using megaphones, sirens, and lights.
While one of the motorcyclists stopped, the other accelerated, continuing along the rambla and entering a pedestrian zone at the intersection with Manuel Álamo Street. At this point, the driver endangered several children leaving a football field by swerving around them.
Due to the impossibility of accessing the area by car, the officers began a foot pursuit. At one point, one of the officers managed to catch up to the motorcycle and grab it by its rear brace, urging the pursued driver to stop. However, the motorcyclist accelerated, dragging the officer and causing him to fall to the ground.
After the incident, the driver fled, although the officers managed to identify him and file the corresponding complaint with the National Police Corps. Subsequently, it was verified in the General Directorate of Traffic database that the vehicle lacked valid insurance and had not passed the Vehicle Technical Inspection (ITV).
